Counselling is a Talking Therapy that can help you to feel heard, understood and supported. It allows you to discuss your problems and any difficult feelings that you are having in a safe and confidential environment.
You may have your own ideas about counselling, or you may just wish to feel better. Our work together will help you to feel supported and more able to cope. You may make changes to how you think and feel about things which will have a positive impact on your mental health and wellbeing.
The term counselling can mean different things to different people, but generally, it is a process people seek when they want to change something in their lives or explore their thoughts and feelings in more depth.
The counsellor will then work together with you to find more productive ways of coping.
A counsellor will not sit you down and tell you what to do. It does require a degree of effort on your part, as you will be encouraged to be open and talk about what is bothering you. You will be encouraged to explore root causes and to identify your specific ways of thinking.
This is not an easy process, but it is a necessary one to help you to move forward and in time you may start to feel better.
